Muhtar Kent, the Chairman and CEO of Coca-Cola Company, joined Coca-Cola in 1978 in Atlanta. Muhtar Kent was appointed General Manager of Turkey and Central Asia in 1985 after various sales and marketing duties in Atlanta, Italy and the Netherlands. Between 1989 and 1995, he took the title of Head of the Department of East and Central Europe to manage the activities of Coca-Cola Company in 23 countries.
Between 1995 and 1998, Muhtar Kent, who managed the bottling operations of 12 countries as a Negotiator member of Coca-Cola Amatil Europe, made the chairmanship and Managing Directorship of Efes Beverage Group, the biggest shareholder of Coca-Cola beverage in Turkey between 1999-2005 .
In May 2005, Muhtar Kent returned to Coca-Cola as North Asia, Eurasia and Middle East Territories Group Head. In January 2006, he was appointed Coca-Cola International President to manage the company’s activities in all countries outside North America.
Kent, who was CEO in July 2008, was assigned to the Chairmanship of the Board of Directors as of December 2009.
Muhtar Kent graduated from the Department of Economics of Hull University in England and holds a master’s degree in Administrative Sciences from London City University. He is married and has two children.
