Born in 1966 in Ordu, Kemal Sayar finished elementary school in Zonguldak Hisarönü 27 Mayıs İlkokulu and highschool in Eskişehir Anadolu Lisesi, respectively. Graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine (English). Continued his education by completing his residency in Psychiatry Department in Marmara University between 1989-1995. Became an assistant professor in 2000
and professor in 2008.

Worked as a consultant and an academic referee in various national and international magazines. Participated in many psychiatry conventions and symposiums as an organizer and a speaker. Worked as a visiting research fellow in Canada University, Transcultural Psychiatry Department in 2002. He also worked as the clinic chief at Bakırköy Mental Health and Neurological Diseases Hospital. He is still a faculty member in Faculty of Medicine, Marmara University. Besides his professional work,he prepared and hosted a programme titled “Labyrinths of the Soul” in Açık Radio (Open Radio) and Star Tv, and another one titled “Human Nature” in TRT. He has written close to 30 books.
