Born in 1965, in Kaşaltı village of Giresun’s Keşap province. Graduated from Giresun İmam Hatip Highschool in 1983 and from Marmara University’s Faculty of Theology in 1987. Worked as a teacher in İçel/Mersin and Giresun between 1987 – 1999. Finished his master’s degree at Ondokuz Mayıs University in 1998, in Department of Basic Islamic Sciences Hermeneutics with his thesis titled “Muvaffakuddîn el-Kevâşî: Hayatı, Eserleri ve Tefsirdeki Metodu”. Assigned to Institute of Social Sciences in 1999; and to Department of Basic Islamic Sciences Hermeneutics at Ondokuz Mayıs University as a research assistant in 2001. Finished his doctorate in the same department with his thesis titled ““Tefsirde Bâtınîlik ve Bâtınî Te’vil Geleneği”. Started to teach as an associate proffessor at Çukurova University’s Faculty of Theology’s Department of Hermeneutics. Became an assistant proffesor in 2005 with his work titled “Kur’an’ın Mu’tezilî Yorumu: Ebû Müslim el-İsfahânî Örneği” and attained his professorate in 2011. Still works as a teaching fellow in the Faculty of Theology in Marmara University.
